I know I haven't created a post in a while, but don't worry, I gave myself a slap on the wrist! Check out this new find from my favorite, Hipster Home - which I was able to visit on my last trip. (Thanks to Chris and Stephanie!)
It's a Geneva sound system and the aesthetics of this fantastic system blow my mind. The price isn't so bad either! Call Hipster Home for more details. I hear shipping is fast like snapping a finger for one of these puppies.

So, being that most of the design work I encounter with my current job displays information and numbers - I thought it would be a great idea to check into books on information design. It's always important to check into the latest design trends, and what I encounter everyday at my job wasn't particularly covered in college (Finance, Statistics, Information design in general) so, I found these amazing books. The first is called Information is Beautiful and is designed and written by author David McCandless. The second and third books are Data Flow and Data Flow 2 (Part II comes out this month, I'm just waiting on the release date!). The Data Flow Series is by Gestalten.
All 3 of these books look beautifully designed- as the designs themselves are on the inside. I can't wait to learn from these books. They are coming in the mail soon, I can hardly wait! Time to add some flair to charts and graphs!

Check out this design of this handbag...
As it says on Ryan Wither and Paul Lewin's site, "Wooden panels are constructed in Sweden and are formed from birch and maple or walnut veneers depending on the purse. They are hand silk screened and finished with a satin lacquer finish to provide a resilient protective coating. All metal parts are stainless steel and machined in the US . The leather is a super soft goat skin. The purses are sewn and assembled in the US."
I think these are so well designed, crafted and are so unique. You should check out the other products they have - like jewelry...

These are paintings are by artist Jung Yeon Min. Her paintings, made of Acrylic on Canvas are beautiful and surreal. Her style reminds me of my favorite, Salvador DalĂ. She paints from memories stored in great corners of her vivid imagination, which can only be appreciated.
I love her work.

4 Hour Shower?

I think I've found a reason to take more than one shower per day. Check it out: Temperature-Sensitive Glass Tiles that change color when the water hits it! So cool! A Mood Shower! These tiles are so amazing - think about moving them beyond the bathroom...
Apparently, the buyer can tell the manufacturer what base temperature they want, and every 6-10 degree increment from there activates a different color phase. There are three phases in all, and once you’ve passed the third, it will return to the original color. The manufacturer offer tiles in different sizes and for all sorts of applications - wall, floor and counter tops. There are also texture and base color options which allows you to custom the look you want. A single 4” x 4” tile will run you $33, or around $300 per square foot. So perhaps we'll see it on an episode of MTV Cribs before our own home.

Twin Raven's Press has some really cute Letterpress robot coasters out. These cute coasters come in a pack of 12 and are great for February. (Valentine's Day ahem, ahem!) Each Twin Ravens Press coaster is created by hand using a combination of photopolymer plates, lead type and hand-mixed inks on an old-fashioned letterpress. These coasters are printed on natural colored, heavy-weight, recycled coaster board.
Great job Twin Raven's Press!

This post is featuring the great accessory work of Gina from Acute Designs, an Etsy find. Her delicate headbands are a great compliment to dress up an outfit or just look plain cute! I adore her red and gold flower headband and satin flower clip, as seen below. She mentioned to me that she is also expanding into baby accessories, pet accessories and more. Everyone should take a moment to check out her shop and the chic handmade accessories she has created!

These earrings by Heather at Pretty Paris on Etsy and really cute and come in an array of colors! She describes them as high quality cabochon black roses. The Cabochons measure about 21mm with surgical steel ear posts. I also really like the cute little tags she created for the earrings and she promises each pair arrive in a "pretty little package," which we all can appreciate. At only $8.00 these are a find. She has other jewelry at her site as well, which you should check out.
While you are checking out her etsy site, check out her friends etsy site as well. Her friend lost two family members to the same rare cancer and all proceeds to her friends site go directly to benefit the Matt Morrell and Natalie Sanchez Pediatric Cancer & Blood Disease Foundation. Please help in the fight against Ewing's Sarcoma.

When I lived in Cincinnati, one of my most favorite stores was Z Gallerie. Now that I'm back in Buffalo, I can't get that fix - and man does it stink. Thankfully, they have a great online store (and facebook page!) that I frequent. In my new interior make-over frame of mind, I've been trying to decide what I like best from their store. I think the winner for the living room right now is the Aiden Chair and the Aiden Sofa! The Aiden Chair sells for $999.00 and the sofa, $1,299.00. They pair this ensemble with this painting, which I think compliments nicely.
Z Gallerie also has some great sales going on right now. Check it out!

Wall Decals
Posted by
Kim
The beginning of 2010 brought some inspiration to redesign my living room. I've been checking out furniture and other designs concepts via interior decorating sites for inspiration. Since I'm hung up on the couch sick - yesterday, I came across these decals.
They are so cool. I bet they really transform a room with the swipe of an arm. I particularly like the trees placed along the stairway.
These decals can be found here and are made by WowWall. There are many more designs that can be found at this link.

These delicate napkin rings are made of clay and each hold representation of a different word - with the purpose of stirring up conversation, spurring up interaction and creating laughter at your next dinner party! Since these are made to order, you can choose the words you would like on your napkin rings. I thought these were pretty clever and a great shot at making a memorable dinner conversation.
On the other side of the rings is the hand-written word.
I think you could have a lot of fun with these!

If you are into your 13" or Powerbook Mac then by "into" I mean hello fellow nerd! You are going to love this. It's a great way to dress up your mac or pretend you have some man with a glowing apple head on the top of your laptop. Be sure to place the decal so that it's not upside down when you open your powerbook. You can get one here for only $5.00.

It's been a while. How about some cool design? Check these sofas out...amazing. These upholstered pieces of art are created by deadgood. They are definitely on my want list. Don't like the rainbow buttons? The buttons come in other color schemes as well.
